Indie Books of the Month for August announced
01/08/2023
The Booksellers Association has today announced
The Dance Deception
by Becky Ward as
Fiction Book of the Month
, and
Ten-Word Tiny Tales
by Joseph Coelho and Friends as
Children’s Book of the Month
for August.
Independent bookshops around the UK and Ireland will be promoting
The Dance Deception
and
Ten-Word Tiny Tales
throughout August on social media and in-store. The Booksellers Association will be supporting the promotion of the
Indie Books of the Month
through social media and promotional material.
Kate Wareing is astonished when she secures a place in a dance competition in which beginners are paired with professionals to compete for a huge cash prize. Initially, she’s matched with gorgeous French dancer Merle, who seems just as keen to work on their chemistry as their routine. But when the competition is rocked by a scandal, she’s forced to switch to a new partner, Aleksis, who is just as devastatingly attractive as Merle – but seems to hate her.
With the odds stacked against them, Kate and Aleksis agree to embark on a showmance to try to win over the public. But what happens when Kate’s feelings for her fake boyfriend become all too real? And how far will Merle go to sabotage her chances – both in the competition and in love?
The Dance Deception
is published by Avon today (1 August) and is available to buy in bookshops now.

: “I love seeing an indie bookshop on the high street. You know you're going to get a unique experience and a personal touch! And on top of that, the support they offer new authors is invaluable for writers like me who are just starting out.”
In this unique and magnificent compendium designed to spark the imagination, Joseph Coelho brings us stories of underwater worlds, demon hamsters, bears in outer space, and portals to places unknown, all in just ten words each! Featuring a wealth of talented artists with heritage from all over the world, from the Netherlands to China, Mexico to Iran, each tale has been paired with one of the finest illustrators working today.
Ten-Word Tiny Tales
is a brilliant merging of pictures and words that will encourage readers to explore the endless possibilities of how a story might unfold. It’s the perfect gift for all those readers to unleash their imaginations.
Ten-Word Tiny Tales
is published by Walker Books today (1 August) and is available to buy in bookshops now.
