Toto Among the Murderers by Sally J. Morgan announced as November Fiction Book of the Month
02/11/2020
The Booksellers Association has announced
Toto Among the Murderers
by Sally J. Morgan as its
Fiction Book of the Month
for November.
Inspired by Sally’s own experience of living in Leeds and being offered a ride by the Wests,
Toto Among the Murderers
is the story of wild child Jude – known to her friends as Toto – who has graduated from art school in 1973 and decides to hitchhike around the country, not wanting to stay in one place for too long. As reports of attacks on women come in, Jude is unaware that violence is coming closer. Infamous murderers Fred and Rosemary West are stalking the country, and they’re looking for girls just like Jude.
Toto Among the Murderers
is published by
John Murray Originals
and is available in bookshops now.
Author Sally J Morgan commented,
“I’m delighted and honoured to have my debut novel, Toto Among the Murderers, selected as Fiction Book of the Month for November 2020. Independent bookshops have been the mainstay of my development as a writer since I was a child. Whenever I’m in a new town I go looking for them. They are to be found hidden on side-streets with window displays full of the unexpected and enticing. Going through their doors is like stepping into the Magic Theatre, or the Secret Garden. Hidden treasure. Obscure gems. Parallel worlds."
Amy Vale, bookseller at Book-ish said,
“A new favourite of the year, Toto Among the Murderers was a gripping tale, full of well-formed characters and the shadow of something slightly sinister throughout.”
Independent bookshops around the UK and Ireland will be promoting
Toto Among the Murderers
throughout November. The Booksellers Association will also support the promotion of the
Fiction Book of the Month
through social media and the provision of promotional material.
