Where Snow Angels Go by Maggie O’Farrell announced as November Children's Book of the Month
02/11/2020
The Booksellers Association has announced
Where Snow Angels Go
written by Maggie O’Farrell and illustrated by Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini as its
Children’s Book of the Month
for November.
The first children’s book from the Women’s Prize winning author of
Hamnet, Where Snow Angels Go
tells the story of Sylvie, a little girl who wakes up to find a Snow Angel in her bedroom, there to protect her. Months later, she longs to find her Snow Angel again to thank him and tell him everything that has happened. Will he ever come back? And how can she make sure everyone has a Snow Angel to look over them?
Where Snow Angels Go
is published by
Walker Books
and is available in bookshops now.
Author Maggie O’Farrell said on the book’s selection,
“Over the past few months, during discussions about what we were most looking forward to when lockdown ended, browsing in a good independent bookshop came pretty high on my list, every time. What is it that makes a independent bookshop so beguiling? The smell, perhaps, of fresh paper and newly printed ink. The tables of hand-picked, much-loved reads, stacked up and waiting. The individuality of the décor, wall art, armchairs, rugs. The lure of the well-stocked, carefully curated shelves. The opportunities to covertly people-watch and eavesdrop on other customers. More than anything, of course, it’s the booksellers themselves: committed, driven, hard-working, inspiring experts whose aim in life is to put the right book into your hands. I have discovered many favourite reads by asking these people what they recommend; my shelves at home would be seriously denuded without their input. So thank you, independent bookshops. I’m glad your doors are open once more.”
Independent bookshops around the UK and Ireland will be promoting
Where Snow Angels Go
throughout November, both in-store and on social media. The Booksellers Association will be supporting the promotion of the
Children’s Book of the Month
through social media and promotional material.
