Indie Booksellers Children’s Book of the Season for Summer announced
09/07/2018
The BA Children’s Bookselling Group has announced its next Independent Booksellers Children’s Book of the Season for Summer as Lauren St. John’s
Kat Wolfe Investigates.
Chosen by a panel of indie booksellers from a range of new children’s titles, the Book of the Season aims to showcase indie bookshops’ expertise at promoting and selling children’s books.
This season’s title is the thrilling
Kat Wolfe Investigates
, which invites readers to join Kat and her animal sidekicks in their first mysterious adventure filled with friendship, freedom and a fierce wild cat! After a pet owner vanishes from his clifftop mansion, Kat turns to her new friend, Harper Lamb for help. What began as
mystery- solving holiday fun quickly turns deadly for Wolfe and Lamb. Can they count on their unruly animals to save their lives?
For the summer season, around 84 indie bookshops are taking part and will be promoting
Kat Wolfe Investigates
for a minimum of two weeks from 9th July. The BA will be supporting the promotion of the CBOTS through social media and promotional materials including posters, stickers, bookmarks and other POS material. Booksellers will also be supporting the Book of the Season on social media.
Meryl Halls, Managing Director at the BA, commented:
“The Book of the Season gives independent bookshops the chance to do what they do best by hand-selling fantastic books, far and wide to the nation. Kat Wolfe Investigates is the perfect summer read for children and St. John will be visiting a number of bookshops to inspire kids to have their own reading adventures during the school holidays.”
Lauren St. John, author of
Kat Wolfe Investigates
added
:
“I’m honoured and completely ecstatic that Kat Wolfe Investigates is the Independent Bookshop Book of the Season! Independent booksellers light the flame of reading in the hearts of millions of children every day, just as they lit it in mine, and, on a local level, they keep it burning all our lives. Through their passion, courage and hard work, minds are opened, bridges are built, and walls knocked down. Not only do they inspire today’s kids to be braver, kinder, stronger and more hopeful, they inspire the children we once were.”
The BA will be asking publishers to submit titles for the Autumn Book of the Season in the coming weeks.
Booksellers are encouraged to share the Independent Booksellers Children’s Book of the Season for summer on social media using
#indiebookoftheseason
Kat Wolfe Investigate
s is available to buy now from an indie bookshops, published by Pan Macmillan.
