The Booksellers Association has announced The Diddle That Dummed by Kes Gray and Fred Blunt as its Children’s Book of the Month for July.
 
From the bestselling author of the Oi Frog! series and the illustrator of the Captain Falsebeard and Knightmare series, The Diddle That Dummed is the story of Flinty Bo Diddle who is writing a tune for his fiddle. All his diddles have lined up nicely, except one in the middle who keeps going DUM! The Diddle That Dummed is published by Hodder Children’s Books and is available in bookshops now.

On the book’s selection author Kes Gray said, “As the story of Coronavirus continues to unfold, the reopening of indie bookshops is a most welcome page turned.  I’m thrilled that The Diddle That Dummed will be adding to the smiles in Indie bookshops UK-wide in July!”

Illustrator Frank Blunt commented, “I genuinely can’t wait to browse my local independent bookshop again. The knowledge and passion from the booksellers mean the best new books get to enjoy shelf space. I hope booksellers and families alike will enjoy sharing a laugh with The Diddle That Dummed.”
 
Sharon Benton, Marketing Manager, Booksellers Association said, “The Children’s Book of the Month promotion was paused for April, May and June but we are delighted to announce that we are restarting this promotion from July to coincide with the re-opening of bookshops across the country.   We are delighted that The Diddle that Dummed will be the Book of the Month for July.”
 
Independent bookshops around the UK and Ireland will be promoting The Diddle that Dummed throughout July, both instore and on social media. The Booksellers Association will be supporting the promotion of the Children’s Book of the Month through social media and downloadable marketing material.
