The Booksellers Association appoints Ruth Hunter as Consumer Publications Editor

21/11/2022
The Booksellers Association has today announced the appointment of Ruth Hunter as the BA’s Consumer Publications Editor.

After editing Booktime magazine for the BA as a freelancer, Hunter is now joining the BA in a permanent role, working on the magazine as currently, as well as project managing the Christmas and Summer Books Catalogues.

She will look after publisher liaison, design and editorial, as well as bookseller liaison and comms, bringing together the BA’s book promotion work under one very experienced eye. With Hunter’s appointment, the BA will now be running the Christmas and Summer Books Catalogue as BA-run projects (in conjunction with Gardners Books) and will no longer be operating the project as a joint venture with Nielsen.

Prior to the BA, Hunter has worked for Bertrams Books, editing Booktime and the Bertrams Christmas Catalogue. She joins the Campaigns team, and will report to Emma Bradshaw, Head of Campaigns at the BA.

Meryl Halls, Managing Director at The Booksellers Association said: “We are delighted to welcome Ruth to the team, and look forward to working with her on improving and re-energising the Books Catalogues projects. Having already edited Booktime and the Bertrams Christmas Catalogue, she is uniquely qualified for this role. Publishers will be hearing from her directly in due course about both our Catalogues and about Booktime.”

Ruth Hunter, Consumer Publications Editor at the BA said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the BA. They are an amazing team to be a part of, and I am looking forward to producing the consumer catalogues, as well as continuing with Booktime magazine. I feel very lucky to be given the opportunity to follow my passion for books and literature, working with publishers, authors and booksellers, in such a friendly environment.”
